Podcast Production in a Post-COVID World

Although the lockdowns and lots of time spent at home over the past two years were tough in many ways, one positive to come out of it all was a slower pace of life for most people - and having more time to do the things that we enjoy.

Unsurprisingly, this meant a massive jump in podcast listening, and a huge increase in the number of new podcasts being produced. And the thing that made them even easier to produce? Zoom.

We love recording our podcasts remotely because it makes it easier in so many ways… For example, when Freddie decided to move his family to New Zealand to start a new life, remote recording meant that he could still be a co-host of Over The Influence… Even if working out the time zones did present a few headaches!

Not only that, but remote podcast recording is really convenient for guests too. Rather than asking a guest to travel to a location to record, we send them our remote recording guide and they can participate wherever they are – taking an hour out of their schedule rather than half a day (or more!)

Of course, we’ve also perfected remote podcast recording to make sure we end up with the highest final audio quality possible. We use Zoom so that everyone can see each other, but we don’t use the audio from Zoom to create the final podcast production – the technique we’ve devised means it can sound like you’re in the same room as your guest, even if they’re thousands of miles away.

Having said all that though, we love seeing people in person and having a chat over a coffee, and not just though a computer screen. With that in mind, and now Covid restrictions have lifted, we’re delighted to now be able to offer in studio or on location recordings again!

Obviously, that means some geographical considerations in terms of travel but if you’re near Liverpool, or happy to travel to record, then let’s get it set up (and FYI, in case you’ve never been, Liverpool really is the best city in the world). If coming to Liverpool is difficult, we also have relationships with podcast recording studios across the country – so you can use their studio, but our producers – win win!

So, if you’re all a bit Zoomed out and would like to chat about recording your podcasting person in a studio then drop us an email. But be warned… Producer Gemma is a hugger!
