How One Podcast Idea Can Lead To So Much More…

We first met the team at the fabulous Elmore Community Services last year when we developed a podcast idea for them which launches next week - and one which we’re very excited to tell you about!

But from that initial meeting came a wonderful working relationship that has led to other ideas and a new, short series of podcasts which focus on specific areas of Elmore’s practice work.

Elmore work with people with complex needs including homelessness, domestic violence and addiction. As part of that they will often carry out reports and evaluations into what their services are to assess how effectively they’re being delivered, which are then shared with their partners and media outlets across the UK. They also commission research projects on specific subject areas, and are well-known for their ground breaking insights.

Only now, Elmore aren’t just publishing written reports, evaluations and research, they’re also publishing podcasts episodes on them too.

The first of these new podcasts focused on their New Beginnings service after an evaluation report was released, and host Ben spoke to the co-author of the report, Dr. Nadia Wager, to discuss the uniqueness of New Beginnings, the needs of adult survivors of CSE, and how Elmore meets those needs.

Initially, the idea was to help draw attention to the report itself from other people in the healthcare sector, but Elmore has seen benefits far beyond that: partner organisations of Elmore have picked it up and shared it with their teams, Elmore have integrated the podcast in to their on-boarding process for new team members, and current staff members have gained a greater insight in to the great work that some of their colleagues are doing that they may not have been fully aware of.

The latest in this mini-series of practice-specific podcasts features Dame Sara Thornton, the UK's Anti-Slavery Commissioner, as Elmore have recently released some ground breaking research on modern slavery which shows that actual figures of modern slavery may be higher than previously anticipated. She speaks to Ben about how to spot the signs of modern slavery, how we can help to prevent it as a society, and how we can enhance the support received by survivors.

We’re really enjoying our relationship with Elmore, working together to produce some really powerful and important content. Podcasts offer Elmore the opportunity to explore subjects in real depth, whilst providing an accessible way for people to access the information – podcasts can be listened to anywhere and at any time.
